On impulse.
I figured I had nothing to lose - it's not going to last long because I haven't pray Zohor.
And Kit was there with me to witness the made over - and she herself was made up after the make-up artist-cum-seller was done with me.
(*Note to self - must go and get a facial - the 'kakak make-up' was geram with both of us for having so many blackheads and for not getting rid of the dead cells on our face, ngeeeee)
Kit came over to spend the Friday-extra-long lunch hour with me, and being more authoritative on make-up and stuff, commented that the light make up expertly applied by the seller seemed to suit me well.
"You look finished"
"What? I look finished as in 'aiyaaa, finished laa'?," I joked
"No. I mean you look complete"
"Ok..."
"I think you should buy the powder. It seems to suit you lah"
Well, it's common knowledge that I am not into make-up.
Not that I have anything against it.
It's just that I'm not into it.
(Poor Kit - most of her close girlfriends just don't dig make-up.
But I didn't mind buying stuff for you, kan dear?)
When I appeared in office after lunch with a made up face, a few clerks commented on it.
"Puan nampak berseri-seri."
"Puan nampak macam ada nur"
"Macam inilah baru puan saya..."
And the best 'compliment' came from my Chief Clerk, who entered my room, wanting to get something, startled to see my made-up face half-way to the cabinet, stopped and asked,
"Eh Puan, why do you look so beautiful today?"
Ha ha ha.
Her facial expression was priceless.
After I explained that I went for a 1 minute free make-up demo, she said, "Puan, I think you should buy this powder..." (Pixy 2-way cake to be exact)
"But CC, I don't wear make-up. I don't even feel comfortable wearing just powder"
It's true. I've only wore make-up on certain selected ocassions - and usually the make-up set didn't belong to me.
"But Puan, being in your position, I think it's only appropriate that you start wearing some powder and putting on some lipgloss. Nothing too drastic. Just a little touch-up to make you look more presentable."
I grinned.
Well, I don't know...
Now that we have seen so many all-made-up ustazahs appearing on TV, it's even harder to justify that I don't wear make up because it's tabarruj, kan?

i think u should also heheh - the natural look - wearing something that almost look natural you but yet not so natural because u wearing something heheh so that you dont look so pale or unfinished :)-
i love make up but malas ja - but masa hari hari rajin i do put some lengkap with eye liner and powder and foundation heheh
It's deja vu - almost!
I went to a kenduri recently during the CNY balik kampong trip. A couple of female cousins took me aside and said something like this, "..kita orang tak cakap sebelum ni masa datang rumah Rokan, yelah sebagai tetamu (i was busy hiding myself usually) tapi since kau dah datang ni, kak nak cakap sikit la. Cuba kau bersiap sikit, pakai bedak, pakai lipstik - tak la nampak pucat je...blablablabla"
Sambung lagi, "kak yang dah kawin ni pon, dok rumah tapi tetap 'bersiap' - barulah sedap mata memandang!"
I guess, maybe what they meant was for us to look a lil' bit more presentable - image & everything. Not to put on full make-up like Chinese opera but a touch of foundation/talc here & there, a smack of lipgloss..our niat is not to attract the opposite sex of course.
BTW, I'm using Eumora & been told time & again that my face is bersinar2 & ada nur too hehehehe
Erma: I think I am more comfortable going totally au naturel... Sebab tu tak beli lagi bedak tu. Kalau beli tapi tak pakai-pakai nanti membazir pula... (Yalah, dah tahu diri sendiri memang tak rajin kan?)
Rad: Dari dulu lagi I selalu dapat komen-komen - "cubalah pakai bedak sikit, lipstik sikit..." tapi setakat ni masih satus quo. Fikir-fikir, kalau nak berbedak/foundation, nanti nak kena pakai facial cleanser masa nak ambil wudhu' sebab rasa macam tak bersih je kalau setakat basuh muka dengan air biasa... Lepas tu ambil masa balik nak pakai bedak lepas solat etc...
Ya, saya memang tak cukup rajin nak berusaha macam tu, hihihi...
Oh, Eumora suits you well, eh? I try hari tu but lepas 2 bar tengok tak banyak beza. Masa kat Jepun, I pakai produk Kose (Sekkisei/ Seikisho), tapi bila dah habis bekalan dari Jepun dulu, I tukar ke Eumora sebab ramai yang rekomen. Tapi macam tak sesuai dengan I, jadi sekarang I pakai Bio Essence. Alhamdulillah, setakat ni macam sesuai...
babe,
tak lama pun nak pakai bedak balik lepas solat. kan pakai bedak aritu seminit je?
and yes, i cam nyesalllll tak beli bedak tu. mmg betul la kata rad. you only wear makeup to look presentable (esp to myself. give me more confidence knowing i look "ok" and not "i-only-slept-3-hours-last-night-sebab-anak-i-insist-tgk dora".
try it la babe. serioussssssssss.
kit: diorg cakap kat watson pun kadang-kadang boleh jumpa bedak tu. and it should be cheaper than the RM35...
and again - it's not about how long it takes to apply the stuff - yeah, that demo was super quick! it's more because unlike you who feel better with the make-up on, i don't feel too comfortable...
but i'm trying to keep my options opened about this - so we'll see...
